Sailing the waters of Georgian Bay and the ABC Islands of the Caribbean inspires much of my work. Using oil paint with bold intensity, I create compositions that capture movement, atmosphere, and an emotional connection to the landscapes and seascapes I paint. My perspective is often shaped from the water itself—views that can only be experienced by boat—bringing an intimate and personal spirit to each scene.
My interest in art began in elementary school and continued through formal studies at Sheridan College School of Design and the Ontario College of Art (OCAD). I initially pursued a career in the creative industry as a graphic designer, working with design firms and advertising agencies. In the early 2000s, an invitation from a friend to join an informal painting group rekindled my passion for painting and set me on the path I continue today.
My work has been featured in the Purple Hills Studio Tour and the Blue Mountain Foundation for the Arts Studio Tour, and exhibited in galleries including the Gladstone Hotel in Toronto, the L.E. Shore Memorial Library Gallery in The Blue Mountains, and The Craig Gallery's Summer Market in Meaford, Ontario. I am currently exhibiting at Marsh Street Gallery in Clarksburg, Ontario.
When I'm not on the water, I enjoy hiking along the Bruce Trail and exploring conservation areas across the Niagara Escarpment and Bruce Peninsula. The rugged beauty of these landscapes continually inspires my paintings.
I hope viewers experience a sense of wonder and whimsy in these scenes, and enjoy them as much as I enjoyed painting them.
